Northridge, CA, September 19, 1997 -- Soligen Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: SGT.EC) today announced that it has appointed Shonan Design Co. Ltd. as its representative in Japan. Shonan will market and sell Soligen's proprietary Direct Shell Production Casting (DSPC) service to the Japanese market.

"This is Soligen's first step toward establishing a Parts Now center in Japan," stated Yehoram Uziel, Chairman and CEO of Soligen Technologies. In the last year, Soligen has initiated business with the leading automotive companies in Japan. "We impressed our Japanese customers with the quality, price, and fast delivery of complex automotive parts," continued Mr. Uziel. "Honda, Nissan and Toyota requested that we establish a presence in Japan to facilitate communications with their design engineers."

Shonan Design, a privately held rapid prototyping corporation that has been in business since 1967 supplies the Japanese marketplace with plastic prototypes using Stereolithographic Rapid Prototyping machines, as well as its proprietary plastic vacuum casting method which makes molds for plastic parts. Their clientele list includes Nissan, Honda and Sony.

"The agreement with Soligen marks our entry into rapid manufacturing of metal parts," stated Yasuhiko Matsuoka, President of Shonan Design. "Since our clients rely on rapid turn-around to maintain a competitive edge, we are looking forward to offering them this new technology."

One of Shonan Design's strengths is its diverse Computer Aided Design (CAD) department, which operates 20 CAD stations covering all major CAD systems. "This will be instrumental in converting Japanese customers' design files into CAD files that are compatible with DSPC and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machining," said Masuo Namme, Director of Marketing at Shonan Design.

The Northridge, CA Parts Now center will produce the parts for the Japanese market. Shonan Design has established a dedicated Web server to exchange files with Soligen in order to provide customers with accurate and fast service. "Once we have established a strong presence in the Japanese market, we plan to build a Parts Now production center in Japan, preferably as a joint venture with Shonan Design," added Mr. Uziel.

Soligen's DSPC technology is a proprietary fabrication process for metal parts that produces ceramic molds for metal casting directly from a CAD file. By using the DSPC technology, Soligen is able to produce a first article metal part, bypassing the traditional need for tooling. Additionally, Parts Now produces production tooling for larger runs of metal castings from the same CAD file as the approved part. By combining three key production elements: DSPC technology, conventional casting methods and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine practices, the Company has created the first "one-stop-shop" for functional metal parts that are made directly from a CAD file and that are ready for assembly.
