WILLIAM SPIER JOINS SOLIGEN TECHNOLOGIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS
AND INCREASES STAKE IN COMPANY
-- Former Salomon Bros. Vice Chairman To Lead $750,000 Investment In Company
--
NORTHRIDGE, CA, July 7, 1999 -- Soligen Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:SGT), which has leading technology applied to the rapid manufacturing of cast metal parts, today announced the election of William Spier, a prominent New York-based investor, as a Director of the Company. Concurrently, Soligen announced that Mr. Spier is leading an investment group that would be providing financing in the amount of $750,000 to the Company, which is expected to be finalized shortly.
``Mr. Spier has been an investor in Soligen for over four years, during which time Soligen introduced the Parts Now® service, which has gained recognition as the leading technology to rapidly manufacture cast metal prototypes. Recently, the Company has initiated the manufacture of production casting tools. Furthermore, Soligen is in various stages of discussions with certain industry partners to significantly expand the Parts Now network. As Soligen prepares for growth and the pursuit of larger initiatives, Mr. Spier's expertise will be extremely valuable to us. We are very fortunate to have an individual of such high caliber on our Board of Directors,'' said Yehoram Uziel, Chairman, President and CEO of Soligen. ``Mr. Spier will actively assist Soligen in establishing an infrastructure for the increased growth expectations of the company. By joining the Board, he demonstrates his very tangible vote of confidence in the future of Soligen.'' Mr. Spier's addition to the Soligen Board of Directors brings the total number of directors to five.
Mr. Spier, 64, was Vice Chairman of Phibro-Salomon, Inc., until his retirement in 1982, and now is President and Chairman of Sutton Holding Corp., a private investment firm founded in 1989. He also serves as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Technology USA, Inc. In addition to Soligen, he serves on the Board of Directors of Geotek Communications, Keystone Consolidated Industries, Integrated Technology, Moto Guzzi, Inc., and Trident Rowan Group, Inc.
Soligen's DSPC® technology is a proprietary fabrication process for metal parts that produces ceramic molds for metal casting directly from a CAD file. By using the DSPC technology, Soligen is able to rapidly manufacture cast metal parts, bypassing the traditional need for tooling. Consequently, it enables postponement of design and the fabrication of expensive and time consuming casting tooling until after the parts are functionally tested, thus increasing the probability of making such production tooling once and correctly on the first attempt. Additionally, Soligen produces production tooling for larger runs of metal castings from the same CAD file as the approved part. By combining three key production elements: DSPC® technology, conventional casting methods, and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machining practices, the Company has created the first ``one-stop-shop'' for functional metal parts that are made directly from a CAD file and that are ready for assembly. This complete service, trademarked as Parts Now®, has become a single source for out-sourcing of metal parts.
DSPC® and Parts Now® are registered trademarks of Soligen.
