SOLIGEN ANNOUNCES RECORD REVENUES AND SHARPLY REDUCED LOSSES
FOR FOURTH QUARTER
AND FISCAL YEAR 2000
-- Revenues From Parts Now® Programs Grew 77% Compared to Fiscal 1999
NORTHRIDGE, CA--May 16, 2000 - Soligen Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB:SGTN), a rapid manufacturer of complex metal parts using proprietary technology, today announced unaudited operating results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended March 31, 2000, including strong increases in revenues and sharply reduced losses for both periods.
Fiscal 2000 revenues amounted to a record $7,153,000, compared with $5,721,000 in the previous year, a gain of 25%. For the fourth quarter revenues increased 20% to $1,923,000, from $1,597,000 in the corresponding year-ago period. The net loss for the fiscal year dropped to $909,000 compared to $1,718,000 for the previous year. The net loss for the fourth quarter declined to $170,000, 51% below the net loss of $345,000 in fourth quarter of fiscal 1999.
Soligen's EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) declined from ($944,000) in fiscal 1999 to ($357,000) in Fiscal 2000 thereby reflecting continuing efforts toward profitability as the Company revenues continue to grow.
The gains for the year were led by sharply increased activity in Parts Now program revenues, which increased 77% for the fiscal year, to $5,044,000, and rose 36% in the fourth quarter, to $1,462,000 from $1,074,000 in the fourth quarter of the prior year. The company believes that this continued trend in Parts Now programs reflects a fundamental shift bringing with it the potential of higher profit margins due to more growth oriented value-added services built around the Company's proprietary Direct Shell Production Casting ("DSPC") process. Soligen's ability to produce casting tools correctly the first time and in record delivery time, significantly expedites the time-to-market of products based on complex castings. Soligen has been successfully gaining more business in the auto industry, particularly from Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F), General Motors (NYSE:GM), DaimlerChrysler (NYSE:DCX) and many of their tier one suppliers such as Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE:DPH) and Visteon.
Soligen is achieving increased orders as a result of its decision a year ago to establish a team of highly professional regional sales engineers. "The past year, I feel, is just a prologue to what Soligen can accomplish," said Yehoram Uziel, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company. "It has been a remarkable year, full of challenges, but we are beginning to make serious headway as the value-added dimension of our expertise is gaining recognition in many industries. This past year, Soligen, because of the many steps we have taken to reach out to our customers and properly service them, is being appreciated for both our technology and expertise, which more and more of our clients are beginning to rely upon. I am very encouraged as we head into the new year."
Soligen is able to rapidly manufacture cast metal parts, bypassing the traditional need for tooling, by employing Soligen’s DSPC® technology. The DSPC technology is a proprietary fabrication process for metal parts that produces ceramic molds for metal castings directly from a CAD file. Consequently, it enables postponement of design and the fabrication of expensive and time consuming casting tooling until after the parts are functionally tested, thus increasing the probability of making production tooling once and correctly on the first attempt. Additionally, Soligen rapidly produces production tooling for larger runs of metal castings from the same CAD file as the approved part. By combining three key production elements: DSPC® technology, conventional casting methods, and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machining practices, the Company has created the first “one stop shop” for functional metal parts that are made directly from a CAD file and that are ready for assembly. This complete service, trademarked as Parts Now®, has become a single source for rapidly manufactured metal parts.
DSPC® and Parts Now® are registered trademarks of Soligen.
